Our Story
Founded in Athens with a simple belief — the best guide to Greece is a Greek who is genuinely in love with their country.
Who We Are
GreceTour was founded in 2006 by the Papadopoulos family — a grandmother who cooked, a father who sailed, and a daughter who studied ancient history. Together, they saw something missing in Greek tourism: tours that showed the real country, not just the postcard version.
Eighteen years later, we remain a tight-knit team of educators, chefs, sailors, and storytellers. Every itinerary we build carries the same principle — deep local knowledge, genuine human connection, and a country that will change how you see the world.
We are proud to be a licensed Greek tour operator. Every price is quoted in Euro, every guide is certified, and every partnership is with a local family-owned business.

What We Stand For
We would rather spend two hours in one village than rush through five highlights. Our tours are slow, curious, and deeply rewarding.
Every taverna, every guesthouse, every boat captain we work with is Greek, family-owned, and chosen for quality — never for commission.
We minimise environmental impact, respect archaeological sites, and contribute directly to the communities we visit.
Maximum 16 travellers per tour. Large enough to be lively, small enough for every guest to feel seen and cared for.
Our guides are not just friendly locals — they are certified archaeologists, historians, chefs, and naturalists with real expertise.
All prices quoted in Euro with no hidden fees. What you see is what you pay — full stop.
The People Behind the Tours
Archaeologist turned storyteller. Has guided guests at the Acropolis for over 15 years.
Third-generation sailor. Born on Kefalonia, knows every anchorage in the Ionian by heart.
Trained in Thessaloniki. Leads our food tours with recipes passed down through four generations.
Botanist and hiker. Leads the Samaria Gorge and Zagori treks with precision and joy.
Our Journey
Elena and her parents launch GreceTour with two itineraries and a shared belief that Greece deserves better storytelling.
Word of mouth drives growth. We expand to Crete, the Peloponnese, and add our first sailing tour in the Ionian.
Recognised by the Greek Ministry of Tourism for our commitment to responsible, community-led travel.
We pause during the pandemic and use the time to redesign every itinerary from scratch — deeper, slower, richer.
Today we run 40+ itineraries, maintain a 4.9-star average, and remain proudly family-operated from Athens.
Join thousands of travellers who have discovered the real Greece with GreceTour. All tours priced in Euro.
